John Hurt, the legend of screen and stage whose prolific and varied career has spanned six decades, has died aged 77

John Vincent Hurt was born on 22 January 1940 in Chesterfield in England. After attending St Martins School of Art in London, he won a scholarship to Rada in 1960 and his acting career began.
