Victoria Beckham SS23: VB Showcases Some MAJOR Dresses For Paris Fashion Week Debut

There was a lot happening at Paris Fashion Week this season, but one major piece of news that you won't want to have missed amidst the noise was Victoria Beckham making her runway debut in the fashion capital.
While London, New York and Milan of course play host to some of the world's most major biannual catwalks, twice a year the undisputed fashion industry heavyweights come together to showcase their vision for the next season in the centre of Paris - and joining this line-up of designers is no mean feat.
From Chanel and Louis Vuitton to Dior, Chloé, Stella McCartney, Miu Miu and Givenchy, there is no doubt that, as a designer, showing in Paris is like winning an Olympic gold medal. Twice.
Which is why seeing Victoria Beckham's name appear on the Paris Fashion Week schedule was such an exciting moment, not only for fans of the brand but also for Victoria, herself, who was by no means too proud to reveal her delight.
“It’s a big deal for me”, she admitted to British Vogue. “I certainly felt a lot of pressure knowing I was going to show in Paris.”
Whether she was inspired by the new location or merely playing to that pressure (she revealed that the decision to show in the French capital came before the collection was designed), it seems that Paris certainly suits Posh.
Showcasing a collection bursting with all of her in-house staples - sleek tailoring, timeless silhouettes and dresses that women truly want to wear - Victoria Beckham SS23 welcomes a newly-complex smorgasbord of super sexy design details which elevate and add a sense of high fashion occasion to each and every look.
“An embracing of femininity, an assertion of values, a celebration of craft”, was how team VB introduced the spring/summer 2023 collection in the official show notes.
“It is a re-affirmation of the brand's hallmarks and codes, alongside a fresh view on the modern” read the entirely accurate depiction of the collection, which honed in on the designer's's innate ability to celebrate femininity without even a hint of over-sexualisation.
But that's not to say that Victoria steers clear of sensuality within her designs. Quite the opposite. This collection in particular, in fact, was bursting with fabrics and fits crafted very deliberately to showcase and celebrate the body.
Demonstrated through her impeccable dress offering - which, by the way may have just been her best yet - we see the clever, layered use of sheer fabrications complemented by cut-out knits and flailing frills teasing a sense of the un-done.
Of course, this collection was punctuated by its accessories - forever a real highlight of Victoria's offerings.
The Tassel Handbag, clutched by the likes of Bella Hadid and Rianne Van Rompaey, was a triumph, but it was the latest iterations of her instantly-iconic Chain Pouch which thrilled us the most.
Victoria Beckham just launched her chicest bag ever, inspired by a jewellery gift from DavidGallery5 PhotosJoining the line-up is a new pochette proportion as well as a suede debut, while an almost sheer iteration looks set to delight her very chicest Gen Z customer.
“I’m just so happy to be part of the conversation and be here in Paris. It’s me just getting a little foot in the door, you know? This is me doing it my way.”
“It was always a dream. I can’t believe it’s finally happening. I’m very proud of where we’ve come. With this show, I have enjoyed every single step of the way. When you think of everything we’ve been through, to be doing a show in Paris as an independent brand it’s a really big deal. It feels like a real moment.”
And a ‘moment’ it truly was. As editors, buyers, stylists and celebrities (including the likes of Eva Longoria, Simon Porte Jacquemus, Amber Valletta and, of course, the entire Beckham family en masse) all filed out of the cloisters of the church within Val-de-Grâce - having just applauded a very visibly emotional Victoria Beckham as she appeared on the runway to take her bow - there was a palpable sense of excitement and appreciation buzzing through the crowd.
Because, as much as we loved her runways returning home to London after several seasons in New York, Victoria Beckham - and her clothes, it seems - truly comes alive in Paris.
